Rules checked 14 October 2026UK online casinos
licensed by the Gambling Commission
Online casino is legal in Great Britain at sites licensed by the Gambling Commission. Since 2025 and 2026, new rules cap slot stakes and bonus wagering. Here’s what a licensed casino must do for you, and how to check one before you sign up.
Your protections
What a UK-licensed casino must do
These rules apply to every casino licensed by the Gambling Commission. A site that doesn’t follow them is either breaking its licence or isn’t licensed at all.
Slot stake limits
Online slots are capped at £5 per spin for adults 25 and over, and £2 per spin for 18 to 24-year-olds. The caps went live in April and May 2025. All the UK slot rules →
Fairer bonuses
Since 19 January 2026, bonus wagering requirements can’t exceed 10x, and casinos can’t bundle casino and sports offers into one promotion.
Age and ID checks
You must prove you’re 18 or over before you can deposit or play, even with free-to-play games.
Limits and GamStop
Licensed casinos must offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, and must honour GamStop, which blocks you from every UK-licensed site at once.

Licensed operators
Which casinos are licensed in the UK?
Every legal operator appears on the Gambling Commission’s public register with an account number. We add reviews of individual casinos only after matching each one to that register, so this section grows as we finish testing.
1. Find the account number
Scroll to the casino’s footer. A licensed site states that it is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission and gives its account number.
2. Search the register
Enter that number or the company name on the Gambling Commission public register. Check the licence is active and the website is listed under it.
3. Check the domain
Copycat sites use names close to real brands. The web address you’re on must match a domain listed on the register.
“Casinos not on GamStop” are not licensed in Great Britain. They’re often advertised as having bigger bonuses and no limits. That’s because none of the UK rules apply: no stake limits, no wagering cap, no self-exclusion and no regulator to complain to if they refuse to pay out. We never list them.
Getting started
How to sign up safely
- Check the casino on the Gambling Commission register, as above.
- Register with your real name, address and date of birth. Expect ID and age checks before your first deposit.
- Set a deposit limit when you’re asked at sign-up. Pick an amount you’d be comfortable losing.
- Read the bonus terms. Wagering can’t exceed 10x, but check expiry dates and which games count. Our casino bonus calculator shows what an offer is really worth.
- Use time-outs or GamStop if gambling stops being fun.
